I was born the last of five children in 1944 at Saint Francis Hospital and baptized at Saint Augustine Church. I went to Saint Augustine Grade School and High School at Saint Fidelis College and Seminary.
At Duquesne University I earned a BA in Psychology and MA Degree at the University of Pittsburgh in the psychology of Rehabilitation, with a specialization in the treatment of mental illness.
In 1971 I became the intake worker for Catholic Charities, Lawrenceville Community Program. In 1973 I was on the staff of the Psychology Department of Saint Francis Medical Center as a therapist in the Community Mental Health/Mental Retardation Program. In 1995 I became Director of Saint Francis Mental Retardation Services, offering support and services to individuals with intellectual disabilities, and their families. After the closing of Saint Francis Hospital, I became manager of Saint Augustine Plaza, a senior independent living apartment, sponsored by Christian Housing, Inc., until my retirement and ordination in 2011.
I was ordained a Permanent Deacon for the Diocese of Pittsburgh on June 11, 2011, and was assigned to Our Lady of the Angels Parish. I now serve as an Advocate for the Tribunal in marriage cases and a mentor and on-site facilitator for the men in the Deacon Formation Program.
I also serve on the Board of Directors of Partners in Franciscan Ministry, providing oversight for the various ministries of the Sisters of Saint Francis of the Neuman Communities headquartered in Syracuse, NY.
